University Scholarship Opportunities in Egypt
The USAID Scholars Activity and USAID Egyptian Pioneers, implemented by The American University in Cairo (AUC), offer a number of opportunities for four or five years of university scholarships across a variety of critical specializations/majors of study. Scholarships will be offered to approximately 250 students, including those with disabilities, in the 2023-2024 academic year to obtain bachelor's degrees in 11 Egyptian public and non-public universities. Of these scholarships, approximately 145 will be provided by USAID Scholars Activity and 105 will be provided by USAID Egyptian Pioneers.
Selection will be based on the strength and quality of the application form as well as the applicant's ability to meet the prospective university admission criteria. The scholar recipient will be enrolled in fee-based, credit-hour system programs administered in English.
The scholarship program accepts applications from qualified students from all 27 governorates in Egypt. The selection process will take into consideration the equal representation of genders, and geographic distribution, the diversity of disciplines (with tuition fees) in compliance with the admission criteria in the partner universities and departments, and the representation of people with disabilities.
The scholarship program aims to support Egypt's economic, social and environmental development plans through university studies in critical fields including water, energy, agriculture, nursing, and climate change. Through these sectors, the scholarship program will offer university education opportunities that are built on the foundations of knowledge, innovation and scientific research, and that are designed to foster excellence, experimental education, entrepreneurship and good preparation for the job market.
The scholarship program additionally avails opportunities for the students to conduct undergraduate scientific research, creating a positive impact for the students themselves, for the participating educational institutions and for the Egyptian society as a whole.
