Donor Funded Scholarships Fall 2023
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, AUC offers scholarship opportunities supported by individuals and corporations. These remarkable awards from donors have allowed AUC to recruit and educate outstanding and eligible students who come from different cities and educational backgrounds.
Abulhadi H. Taher Endowed Scholarships
Established in 2018 to support Egyptian and Saudi Arabian students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance. The fund also provides housing for Saudi Arabian students or Egyptian students who live outside Cairo or Giza.

- Egyptian or Saudi Arabian nationality
- High school graduate in the academic year 2022-2023 or a transfer student with no more than one year in their current university
- Demonstrate high academic achievement
- Meet AUC's admission requirements
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20

Armenian Evangelical Congregational Church of Cairo Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1999 to support undergraduate students of Armenian origin. Selection is based on financial needs as well as academic merit.

- Nationality: Applicants must be of Armenian origin
- High school graduate in the academic year 2022-2023 or a transfer student with no more than one year in their current university
- Demonstrate high academic achievement
- Meet the AUC's admission requirements

Egyptian Refining Company (ERC) Public School Scholarship الشركة المصرية للتكرير
Established in 2016 to support tuition for one undergraduate student from a public school in Matareya, Khosos, or Shark Shubra El Kheima (Mostorod).

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:
- Egyptian students with thanawiya amma certificates from public schools in Matareya, Khosos, and Shark Shubra El Kheima (Mostorod) for the academic year 2022- 2023
- Demonstrated financial need
- An active member in school activities or in the local community
- Adequate communication skills
- Potential for further leadership development
- Students must pass recent valid either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing a score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20

Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim A. Allehedan Endowed Scholarship and Scientific Research Fund
Established in 2015 to fully support Arab students; females or males, in the following fields; mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, energy and petroleum, water and environment, economics, and development. Acceptance will be based on merit and financial need.

- Nationality: Egyptian or Arab
- High school graduate in the academic year 2022-2023
- Demonstrate high academic achievement
- Meet AUC's admission requirements
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20
- The intended major must be one of the following fields: mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, energy and petroleum, water and environment, economics, and development.

Orascom Construction-AUC Scholarship
OC-AUC offers undergraduate students up to five-year scholarships to public or private high school graduates from eight governorates in Upper Egypt: Assiut, Aswan, Bani Suef, Fayoum, Luxor, Minya, Qena, and Sohag to start in the academic year 2022-2023.
OC-AUC students will be required to study one of the following majors: economics, mathematics with an option in statistics and data analysis or actuarial science at AUC.

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:
- 2022-2023 public or private high school graduates with demonstrated financial need from the following Upper Egypt governorates: Assiut, Bani Suef, Minya, Sohag, Fayoum, Qena, Luxor and Aswan
- Top Percentile scores in Thanaweya Amma public schools, private schools, STEM or Experimental schools
- Interested in majoring in Economics, Mathematics with an option in statistics and Data analysis or Actuarial Science
- Very good verbal English language skills as demonstrated by an IELTS/TOEFL iBT exam
- Students must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing a score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20
- Excellent communication skills and presentation skills
- Track record of community engagement activity
- Potential for further leadership development

The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Scholarship Fund
Established in 2015 to fully support Egyptian students who come from the far corners of Egypt. Selection is based on the student's academic merit and financial need.

Tomorrow’s Leaders Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The Tomorrow's Leaders Undergraduate Scholarship Program is funded through the US Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs for qualified and highly motivated high school seniors in the Middle East and North Africa who come from diverse backgrounds. The program provides four-year university scholarships and internship opportunities at select institutions of higher learning in the Middle East to students who have the potential to become leaders.

Tomorrow's Leaders Gender Scholars (TLS)
The Tomorrow's Leaders Gender Scholars (TLS) Program is a joint effort between the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC) and AUC. TLS provides multiple opportunities for AUC undergraduate students to become gender-sensitive, civic-minded citizens and to acquire leadership skills to advocate for policy reform towards enhanced women’s empowerment, increased access to economic opportunities, and the ability to play a greater role in maintaining and building peace.

USAID Scholars Activity
University Scholarships in Egypt
The USAID Scholars Activity, implemented by The American University in Cairo, offers a number of opportunities for four or five years of university scholarships (which may be preceded by a preliminary year in case of joining AUC or Zewail City for Sciences, Technology and Innovation) depending on the specialization/major of study. The program will be offered to approximately 140 students in the academic year 2022-2023 to obtain bachelor's degrees at a number of Egyptian public and private universities.

The program will be offered to approximately 140 students in the academic year 2022-2023 to obtain bachelor's degrees at a number of Egyptian public and private universities. Program participants will be selected to study in fee-based/credit-hour system distinguished programs administered in English based on the strength and quality of the application form and they have to meet the prospective university admission criteria.
In particular, the program aims to support the economic, social and environmental development plans in Egypt by focusing on university studies in the fields of water, energy, agriculture and nursing by providing university education opportunities based on the foundations of knowledge, innovation and scientific research and characterized by excellence, experimental education, entrepreneurship and good preparation for the job market. The program additionally avails opportunities for students to do scientific research that will create a positive and effective impact for the students themselves (females, males as well as those with disabilities), for the participating educational institutions and for Egyptian society as a whole.

Program Goals
- Enable underprivileged students with exceptional academic potential to enroll in and excel through better academic opportunities
- Increase Egyptian students’ access to higher educational opportunities, especially in fields that are offered in English and follow the fee-based credit-hour system
- Enable students with exceptional academic potential and have physical disabilities to have access to more university education opportunities
- Improve the students’ English language skills required to facilitate the learning process and to prepare them for the labor market requirements in Egypt
- Offer the opportunity for some students to study in some US universities for one semester or one summer semester
- Provide a number of opportunities for students to work on developing ideas and innovative projects and turn them into real-life projects
- Contribute to increasing post-graduation job opportunities through the enhancement of their business, leadership, and other skills required by the labor market
- Enhance scholarship students’ leadership skills and commitment towards their societies and country in order to prepare them to be future leaders and advocates for the development of their local communities
- Enable students to participate in and benefit from internships and funding opportunities for innovative projects through private sector organizations
- Provide residence or residence allowance (as needed and in compliance with scholarship criteria)
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be Egyptian
- The student has to have been enrolled in a public, experimental or STEM school throughout all secondary education years
- Students must obtain a secondary school certificate (Thanawiya Amma) in the school year 2021-2022, first exam round
- Students must obtain a total score not less than 85% from public schools, experimental schools or their equivalent in STEM schools
- The scholarship accepts only students who graduated in the science and math sections
- The scholarship accepts students from the Arts section only if they are with disabilities
- Students must submit all required family financial documents
- Active participation in extracurricular activities such as volunteering and development/community service
- Students should have leadership potential
Students with disabilities: Must have the minimum technological knowledge to handle educational tools that should aid them in the learning process. A psychological and educational certificate must be submitted
USAID Egyptian Pioneers
The USAID awarded AUC with $86 million to implement the USAID Egyptian Pioneers program to provide scholarships and training to Egyptian students with emphasis on sectors that can contribute to the advancement of Egypt’s climate goals. It will award 105 scholarships to Egyptian students.

Applicants should meet the below criteria:
- The student must be Egyptian
- The student has to have been enrolled in a public, experimental or STEM school throughout all three secondary education years
- The scholarship does not accept homeschooling students
- Students must obtain a first-time secondary school certificate (Thanaweya Amma) in the school year 2022-2023 first exam round
- It is expected that students will be required to obtain a total score of not less than 85% from public schools, experimental schools or their equivalent in STEM schools. However, the final cut-off score will be determined based on the national Thanaweya Amma results
- For applicants interested in agriculture and nursing majors, the scholarship might accept a score of less than 85%, which will be announced later
- The scholarship program accepts students who graduated from science and math sections, in order to serve the programs’ objectives and targets as well as the study majors
- The scholarship accepts students with disabilities from the arts, science and math sections
- Students must submit all required family financial documents
- The student should demonstrate active participation in extracurricular activities such as volunteering and development/community service
- Students should have leadership potential
- The student should clearly mention the technological skills that they need to acquire to aid them in the learning process
- Students with disabilities must submit a psychoeducational assessment and health certificate medical report, issued and sealed by a governmental hospital
- It is highly recommended to benefit from AUC’s Road to College free online program in order to enhance their English language skills

Candidates who qualify for this scholarship will be selected from the Egyptian public school scholarship applicants.
Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:
- Be Egyptian student graduates from public, experimental, STEM, and Nile schools in the academic year 2022-2023
- Have an outstanding secondary school academic record
- Demonstrate financial need
- Meet AUC admission requirements
- Students must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 5.5 and a writing score of 5.5 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 62 and a writing score of 17

Wadi Degla Endowed Scholarship Fund for Student Athletes
Established in 2015 to fully support one Egyptian student who demonstrates an outstanding secondary school academic record and an outstanding record, locally or internationally, in one of the following sports: soccer, squash, basketball, swimming, or track and field.

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:
- Nationality: Egyptians with no dual nationalities
- High school graduate in AY 2022-2023
- Demonstrate high academic achievement
- Meet AUC's admission requirements
- Applicants should have an outstanding record, locally or internationally, in one of the following sports: Soccer, Squash, Basketball, Swimming, or Track and Field
- Demonstrate financial need
- Applicants should commit to playing in the AUC team alongside his/her original sports club in his/her designated sport
- Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20
- Applicants must maintain a satisfactory academic record and a satisfactory sports record during his/her study at AUC
- Applicants must maintain an academic load of a minimum of 12 credit hours and a maximum of 15 credit hours (18 credit hours in case of an engineering major) per fall and spring semesters. Summer academic load is an option of a maximum of 3 credit hours (6 credit hours in case of engineering major)
