Support Services for Blended and Online Learning

Each academic year, CLT offers two six-week “Blended Learning Certificate Workshop Series” to orient faculty to the fundamental design principles, teaching techniques and technologies necessary for creating and implementing an effective engaging blended course. The workshop series is offered once in the fall and once in the spring. The faculty is expected to participate in the face-to-face sessions, online tasks, as well as submit a final project for a blended course. Participants receive a certificate of participation for attending the workshops and a certificate of completion upon submitting the course project.

CLT can work one-on-one with any faculty member who wishes to teach his or her course in a blended format. Extended consultations may involve working on all the different stages of the design as well as the creation of digital content.

Schools that wish to offer one of their programs can seek the expertise of CLT with exploring the implications of going blended with reference to curriculum design, assessment, faculty development and possible models for the blend tailored to the proposed stakeholders (faculty, students, department).

The CLT can help with exploring technology solutions that facilitate the pedagogical or practical goals that a faculty member seeks to address in his or her course. Solutions will be tailored to the specific needs of the context. Student technology assistants will then provide training to the faculty on any of the technologies explored upon the request of the faculty. CLT can also offer an orientation to the faculty member’s student for the selected technologies.

CLT can provide different kinds of formative assessments to faculty throughout the course that are confidential for the purpose of providing feedback to the faculty member regarding the course in general or specific elements. The most popular forms are SGIDs and online surveys. However, other formats can be offered as needed.
