Board Holds Virtual Meeting, Issues Statement of Appreciation

Last week, and for the first time in the University’s history, the Board of Trustees held its May meeting via videoconference. Convening more than 30 trustees and advisory trustees spanning five countries and several states, the virtual meeting focused on a discussion of the University’s COVID-19 response and implications for the future, an update on the campus master planning process, review of tenure cases and projections for the FY21 budget, which will be approved in June.

AUC, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sign Public School Scholarships Agreement

AUC and Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the University to annually allocate 30 full-tuition scholarships to the government for Egyptian public school students who wish to pursue their undergraduate studies at AUC, in accordance with the University’s admission requirements. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will nominate the students for the scholarships.

Campus Conversation: The President's Operational Excellence Initiative

Last Thursday’s Virtual Campus Conversation introduced the Presidential Operational Excellence Initiative, which establishes seven committees spanning different areas.  President Francis Ricciardone started the session detailing the purpose of the committees, stating that they are meant to better help address the different needs of AUC community members and to give students, faculty and staff ways to directly express their concerns and needs.

AUC, College of Charleston Partner on Student Exchange

AUC and the College of Charleston in South Carolina, both liberal arts institutions with a long legacy in education, have recently partnered on new academic cooperation and student exchange program for both undergraduate and graduate students for a period of five years.  Students from AUC and the College of Charleston will receive a scholarship to spend a semester or year abroad at the other institution, providing students with a unique international experience and strengthening East-West cultural ties.
