AUC's 13th President Search

The Board of Trustees has named Ahmad S. Dallal, an accomplished academic leader and renowned scholar with US and regional higher education expertise, as AUC’s 13th president, effective October 15, 2021.

The American University in Cairo’s Board of Trustees launched the search for a successor to AUC President Francis Ricciardone, who will retire at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. The Board formed a committee of ten trustees and five senior faculty members to conduct the search and to provide input to the Board. In accordance with the University bylaws, the full Board elects the president.

Perrett Laver was selected by the committee members as the search firm that helped manage the logistics of the search process, scour the globe for suitable candidates, and advised the committee and the community in our decision-making.  Perrett Laver works exclusively with universities and non-profit clients, advising over half of the top 100 Universities in the world (such as the University of Pennsylvania, Duke, Oxford, Cambridge, Sydney and Hong Kong University) and they have supported committees on over 200 university President searches globally.  Click here to read more about Perrett Laver.
