The Mr. and Mrs. Kamal Adham Fellowship
The fellowship is designed to support students who wish to pursue their master's degree in Television and Digital Journalism, offered by the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism, who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
Eligibility
- Open to all nationalities
- Applicants to the Television and Digital Journalism MA graduate studies program at AUC.
- For new degree-seeking graduate students who satisfy AUC graduate admissions requirements.
- Have a strong academic potential with a bachelor's degree with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional work experience in the journalism or media fields.
- Have proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Possess maturity, flexibility, presentability, and leadership potential demonstrated in a combination of extracurricular activities, recommendations, and interviews.
- For continuing students, to retain the fellowship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Financial need.
Duration
Two academic years and the intervening summer session, with a review every semester for satisfactory academic performance.
Award Coverage
- Full tuition fees for a maximum of nine credits per semester
- Student services and activities fees
- Medical service and health insurance fees
- This fellowship may cover academic English language remedial courses and/or prerequisites that might be needed.
Responsibilities of Fellows
- Must maintain full-time status.
- Students are expected to complete their degrees within a maximum of two years from their date of admission.
- Fellows are assigned 18 hours per week of related academic or AUCTV work.
- Commit to all program policies and procedures.
- A teaching assistantship mandatory training must be completed per University requirements if the fellow is involved in teaching assistantship duties. For details and more information about teaching assistantships, click here.
- By accepting this externally funded fellowship, the fellowship recipient agrees to respond to any reporting requests received from AUC by the deadlines communicated to the awarded fellow. This may include a request for photos or academic progress information to be used for reporting purposes or attendance of fellowship events, including any meetings or events with donors as requested by the relevant university entities.
