Dependent Coverage Option
This option is available for students who have dependents (spouse and/or children) accompanying them. For more information click here.
Dependents coverage is mandatory for international graduate students. If at any given time, family members of international graduate students decide to reside in Egypt with the student, then they, as dependents (spouse and children) must be well covered by a health insurance plan for the duration of their stay in Egypt. It is highly advised that the insurance for dependents plan that is administered by AUC be made use of. Alternatively, there has to be proof of a similar insurance plan to get an exemption. Dependents who are on short term visits to Egypt must be covered by a travel insurance. AUC cannot be held responsible for dependents who are not covered by a health insurance plan.
You will receive your identification number (soft copy card) for the policy nine weeks into the semester. Contact email@example.com to obtain your insurance ID number if you need to access medical services or file a claim.
Local Health Plan
All international students and AUC student housing residents are required to join AUC's local medical services plan.
Fees are charged during the first semester of enrollment. Coverage includes medical examinations, hospitalization, surgery, X-rays, dentistry, laboratory tests and other medical services up to LE 25,000 (about $4,060) per year.
Exemptions are made for students sponsored by companies, embassies or other agencies, and for those with immediate family residing in Cairo. This plan is administered by AUC's Office of Medical Services, which deals with day-to-day illnesses, out-patient services and relatively minor in-patient services.

Although specific vaccinations are not required for admission to AUC, we recommend that US students consult the U.S. Center for Disease Control prior to traveling abroad. AUC students can also receive vaccinations and immunizations at the school’s medical clinic.
The cost of these vaccinations are not covered by the student insurance policy.
