AUC Athletics offered numerous free fitness classes as well as sports events to the AUC community to raise awareness about fitness and health.

AUC Challenge: Dominoes and Backgammon

As part of its ongoing efforts to foster connection, engagement and friendly competition within the AUC community, the Office of Athletics introduced the AUC Challenge: Dominoes and Backgammon. This recreational championship offers AUC employees an opportunity to enjoy spirited gameplay, build social connections and engage in an afternoon of classic strategy games.

Hosted at the AUC Sports Complex, the event brought together colleagues from across campus to compete in two of the region’s most popular traditional games.

With a total prize pool of EGP 50,000, the championship combines enjoyment with rewarding competition.

Special Olympics

The American University in Cairo hosted the first Special Olympics in Egypt, featuring the Unified Champions Schools. Two AUC basketball players, Farida Mossad and Zena Manie, participated in the Special Olympics in the 3x3 basketball Egyptian national team, which was led by our alumna, Nada Gasser, and they ranked in first place.

Ramadan Tournament

This year's Ramadan Tournament was special with Laliga. The Ramadan tournament included different sports such as basketball, dodgeball, chess, deadlift and football by Laliga. Our athletes enjoyed the Ramadan nights in a competitive environment and won various prizes.

“The Burn Transformation Challenge" by Ignite

For the second time, we hosted the Burn Transformation Challenge by Ignite. This time, the challenge had a grand prize of EGP 100,000. There were 43 participants from our dorms and 100 other participants registered with a 50% discount. Participants had access to training designed with the latest science methods, customized nutrition plans, mental wellness workshops and support from fitness specialists to help them transform their mind, body and soul.

3x3 NBA Africa Fusion

The American University in Cairo hosted the first 3x3 NBA Africa Fusion in Egypt 2024. Our men's and women's basketball teams ranked first. The members of the winning female team are Farida Mossad, Salma Aymsn, Nadin Omar. and Zeina Manie, while, the members of the male winning team are Ahmed Nawasany, Sefi Sherbiny, Ziad Abouali and Zeyad Samer.

Adidas Run

An energetic 5K run took our students, faculty and staff on a scenic route around the AUC campus. This event was a great opportunity to connect our community with fellow runners and embrace the vibrant atmosphere on campus.
