If I am going to conclude my experience in one word, then the word would be ‘eye-opening.’ I felt that my brain was expanding in ways that I had never experienced before. I knew I needed this when I found myself delighted while dealing with diverse people holding different thoughts and ideologies, but at the same time, I found myself inevitably loving the difference. The courses I have taken have pushed my limits and enhanced my research and academic writing abilities. I also found all the support I needed from the professors and the exchange student office. My experience has come to an end, but the lessons and lifelong friendships will last forever!
One of the reasons I chose AUC was the opportunity to study abroad. The Office of International Programs and Services made everything possible. And AUC’s partnership with Sciences Po—one of the most prestigious universities in the world for studying the social sciences—was a huge benefit. My experience taught me that I can do everything and be everything that I want to be.
Coming back from Norway, I was recharged by the endless experiences and stories that I went through. Through reflections, conversations and mentorship, I had more clarity about the type of career I want to follow and, more importantly, the means to do so. I also felt excited to get back and share my learnings not only from the courses but from the sustainable lifestyle Norway promotes.
I liked Florida because of its diversity mainly. I got exposed to people from different backgrounds, ethnicities and religions, each with their unique insights, ideas and experiences.
My exchange experience at the University of Rochester was beyond amazing, to say the least. It felt like being a freshman again, unworried about academic pressures, all open to enjoying the college diversity, the city charm and the captivating nature. I loved the diversity of backgrounds on campus, the field trips to local museums and national parks, and the fruitful involvement in student activities.
Getting my semester abroad opportunity at Hamline University in the United States was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I got to be the first AUCian and Egyptian to go there, where I found a number of various classes, activities and friends who made my time there memorable and beneficial for my career and personal life.
