Spring 2026 Updates
February 16, 2026
Dear AUC Community,
Welcome to the spring semester. I hope the start of the term finds you energized, focused, and ready to engage in the many opportunities that lie ahead. The beginning of a new semester always brings a sense of renewal to campus, and it is gratifying to see students, faculty and staff fully engaged in our academic program and vibrant campus life.
Last week, the Board of Trustees held their February meeting on campus, giving them an opportunity to engage directly with the daily life of the University. From attending class sessions and a student activities fair to dinner with faculty in their homes and a tour of the Campus 2026 construction site, the trustees were fully immersed. Their time here was both productive and forward-looking. During the meeting, the Board and university leadership discussed several key strategic priorities that will shape our future. Among them were conversations about the evolving composition and needs of our student body, including how we will continue to broaden access while supporting student success across all programs. We discussed our plans to continue to attract top students from across Egypt and the region, as well as expanding the number of international students.
There was also a progress report on the work of the University AI task force, which included a preview of an AI framework and core guiding principles for the responsible and ethical integration of AI in four critical areas: curriculum, teaching and learning; research; operations and administration; and student services. Another important session focused on the results of a just completed study on perceptions and positioning of AUC locally and internationally. These strategic topics will continue to underpin many of our discussions and plans in the coming months.
We also reviewed the University’s financial health, examining both the progress we have made and the challenges we must address to ensure long-term stability and continued investment in academic excellence. As part of these discussions, the Board approved a 5% increase in US dollar-denominated tuition and additional excellence scholarships, bringing our scholarship and financial support budget to $52 million, including one-time awards. The decision reflects the rising costs associated with maintaining the quality of our educational programs and the necessary investments to ensure we strive for excellence at an international level in everything we do, including programs, people, facilities, technology and student services. We remain firmly committed to making sure top students always find a place at AUC and will continue to provide scholarships to support qualified students and their families.
Thank you for the energy and dedication you bring to AUC. I wish you a successful and rewarding spring semester. To those who are observing, I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Ramadan, and to everyone an opportunity to enjoy gatherings with family and friends throughout the month.
Sincerely,
Ahmad Dallal
President
