September 1, 2025
Dear Members of the AUC Community,
I am pleased to announce that Sherif Kamel’s term as dean of the Onsi Sawiris School of Business will be renewed, effective July 1, 2026. This decision follows a comprehensive review of his performance over the past years and reflects the University’s confidence in his continued leadership and vision for the school.
Since assuming the deanship, Kamel has led the school through a period of remarkable transformation and growth. His tenure has been defined by a bold strategic vision, a commitment to academic excellence and a relentless drive to position the school as a global leader in business education. During his tenure, the school was named the Onsi Sawiris School of Business, an achievement that builds on the school’s reputation and will improve it to carry forward its mission of academic excellence and social responsibility.
Under Kamel’s leadership, the school has reaffirmed its triple-crown accreditations (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS), maintained its Financial Times global ranking in executive education, and expanded its international footprint through new partnerships and affiliations. He has overseen the redesign of key academic programs, including the Executive MBA and the Master of Science in Finance, aligning them with global market needs and enhancing their relevance and impact.
The school has also seen significant growth in executive education. Kamel has championed innovation in teaching and learning, launching the region’s first Co-Op program and integrating sustainability and global challenges into the curriculum. His efforts have empowered hundreds of students and learners, while also strengthening the school’s engagement with industry, government, and civil society.
In the next phase of his leadership, dean Kamel will continue to focus on areas to further improve the school’s performance, including enhancing research productivity, strengthening international faculty recruitment and optimizing operational efficiency.
Looking forward, we are confident that Kamel will continue to build on the school’s strong foundation, deepen its global impact, and lead with the same energy and vision that have defined his tenure thus far.
Please join me in congratulating Sherif Kamel on the renewal of his term and in supporting him as he continues to lead the Onsi Sawiris School of Business into its next chapter of excellence.
Sincerely,
Ehab Abdel-Rahman, Provost
