Reappointment of Dr. Ehab Abdel-Rahman as Provost of AUC
May 19, 1025
Dear AUC Community,
I am glad to announce the reappointment of Dr. Ehab Abdel-Rahman as Provost of AUC for a four-year term, effective July 1, 2025.
Provost Abdel-Rahman’s leadership has been critical to realizing the evolving strategic priorities of AUC. He always served as an exemplary representative of the University, striving to enhance the University’s positioning and brand. He combines a strong understanding of the academic areas that report to him and the ability to collaborate with multiple units on campus to address university-wide needs.
Provost Abdel-Rahman is invested in student success, as reflected in the multiple efforts to enhance student learning and living experiences at AUC. Among his contributions on this front is the revamping of the recruitment and financial support system. Additionally, the program review process, and the efforts of the Quality of Education Task Force are examples of the initiatives he oversaw to assess the state of academics at the university, including the quality, strength and feasibility of academic departments and programs as well as the quality of education across the university.
Provost Abdel-Rahman is equally invested in supporting AUC faculty and advocating for their welfare and growth. He oversaw systematic efforts to expand AUC’s extramural funding, resulting in the increase in numbers and amounts of grants that not only incentivize and support research activity at AUC, but also enable the development of impactful programs that serve Egypt and position AUC as a national and regional leader in higher education. Under his leadership, this service was further amplified through the growth of extended education efforts across the University, and through the introduction of transformative programs such as the Road to College program that enhances the academic standing and opportunities for hundreds of thousands of students in Egypt and in the region.
Provost Abdel-Rahman continues to prioritize financial sustainability and operational efficiency while ensuring that the University maintains its commitment to academic quality and public service. I am confident that in his next term, Provost Abdel-Rahman will continue to build a collaborative culture that enables academic leaders and faculty to think beyond traditional boundaries, explore new ideas, and design innovative approaches necessary to address the rapidly changing landscape of higher education. I look forward to working with him to continue to move the university forward and enhance its standing and impact.
Before I end this message, I would like to express my deep appreciation for the time and effort of many colleagues of Provost Abdel-Rahman who provided thoughtful evaluations of the diverse dimensions of his work as chief academic officer and university leader.
Please join me in congratulating Provost Abdel-Rahman on his reappointment and in thanking him for his hard work and dedication to AUC.
Ahmad Dallal
