Dear AUC Community,

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Librarian Emerita Dr. Aida Nossier, who served the AUC community for over 40 years. Nossier first joined AUC in 1962 as the head of the department of libraries and educational services. She held various roles throughout her time at AUC, including head of the acquisitions department and director of national and Middle Eastern services.

Nosseir also served as a member of the Shura Council, and as a visiting professor at Monstansreya University in Baghdad. Through her numerous publications and conference presentations, she made significant contributions to the development of the libraries in Egypt and throughout the region and her impact was felt well beyond AUC.

Nosseir is survived by her son, Mr. Ashraf Wasfy ’90 and her daughter, Mrs. Gihan Wasfy ’90 and ’05.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, at St. Georgios and Ava Antonios Church in El Nozha. The family will receive condolences at the same church in the evening. Condolences may also be sent by email to her daughter, Mrs. Gihan Wasfy: [email protected]
