Dear AUC Community,

I am proud to share that our athletes finished first at the 12th All-Africa University Games, representing Egypt and AUC with distinction, and earning AUC the Overall Champion Cup last night at Cairo Stadium. This marks the University’s third consecutive Overall Champion title at the All-Africa University Games, following our championships in Kenya in 2022 and Nigeria in 2024.

The 2026 Games brought together around 2,000 athletes from 82 universities across 18 African nations, to compete in more than 20 sports, while giving them an opportunity to build meaningful connections and friendships. AUC is proud to have been among the principal host universities, with our campus serving as a venue for many of the competitions. To welcome athletes from across the continent and to finish first among participating universities makes this achievement especially meaningful for all of us.

I am deeply grateful to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the International University Sports Federation, the Federation of Africa University Sports, and the Egyptian University Sports Federation for their leadership, and thank them for the opportunity to contribute to the Games as a co-host.

Our athletes earned 46 medals in the main competitions—16 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze—with standout performances in swimming, tennis, squash, padel, table tennis, badminton, modern pentathlon, judo, taekwondo and fencing. They also earned nine medals in the demonstration sports. Our Para athletes were equally remarkable, winning 15 medals, including 10 gold, across swimming, athletics and badminton. Congratulations to all of them.

This achievement also reflects the tremendous work of our coaches, staff and colleagues across the University who supported our athletes and helped AUC successfully co-host this major continental event.
