Specialized Accreditation of Science and Engineering Programs
Responsive to increasing globalization, AUC’s School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE) works to ensure its programs are recognized worldwide and its students can employ their talents internationally. Below are the SSE programs that received international recognition for their quality.
ABET-accredited programs in SSE:
- The Actuarial Science (BS) program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria
- The Biology (BSc) program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria
- The Computer Engineering (BS) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria, the electrical, computer, communications, telecommunication(s) criteria and similarly named engineering programs
- The Computer Science (BS) program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria and the program criteria for the computer science and similarly named computing programs
- The Construction Engineering (BS) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria, construction criteria and similarly named engineering programs
- The Electronics and Communications Engineering (BS) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria, electrical, computer, communications, telecommunication(s) criteria and similarly named engineering programs
- The Mechanical Engineering (BS) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria, mechanical criteria and similarly named engineering programs
- The Petroleum Engineering (BS) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's general criteria, petroleum criteria and similarly named engineering programs
Other internationally accredited SSE programs:
- The Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) program received validation from the UNESCO-UIA Charter for Architectural Education. On January 1, 2022, the Architecture (B Arch) program was approved for Initial Candidacy by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). On January 1, 2024 the program was granted a two-year term of Continuing Candidacy. Check the Architecture Program Report (APR) submitted for the last visit as well as the NAAB Letter for Continuing Candidacy.
- The Chemistry (BS) program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC)

Triple Crown Accredited Onsi Sawiris School of Business
The Onsi Sawiris School of Business achieved the Triple Crown accreditation, placing the school among the top one percent of educational institutions worldwide to achieve the following accreditations.
- Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
- Association of MBAs (AMBA)
- European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS)

Specialized Accreditation of Public Policy and Public Administration Programs
The Public Policy and Administration Masters (MPA) and (MPP) programs are “Triple Crown” accredited globally in the field of Public Affairs Education.

- Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA)

Specialized Accreditation of English Language Programs
The American University in Cairo Department of English Language Instruction is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period August 2025 through August 2035 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. For further information about this accreditation, please contact CEA, 1001 N. Specialized accreditations for The School Of Continuing Education
The School of Continuing Education (SCE) is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.
