AUC Research and Creativity Convention is a collective event that brings together diverse research, design, entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity activities that have demonstrated growth and success over the years. Its aim is to enhance knowledge-sharing, interdisciplinary research collaboration, and projects of community or economic value. It is an event that highlights AUC’s strategic priorities, strengthens research capacity, invigorates campus creativity, and explores critical regional and global issues.
AUC faculty and students, both graduate and undergraduate, showcase and share the outcomes of original research and creativity in the sciences, humanities, social sciences, business and the arts. They demonstrate the breadth and depth of the institution’s research mission. The AUC Research and Creativity Convention is a celebration of excellence in university research, entrepreneurship and creative achievement.
Main Highlights

Opening Speech: Sir Magdi Yacoub, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Sir Magdi Yacoub, professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London and Founder and Director of Research at the Harefield Heart Science Centre (Magdi Yacoub Institute) will be giving a talk on "Creativity, An Illusive Target."

Keynote Speaker: Khaled Habib CEO, Fit For Life
Khaled Habib, PhD, is a well-rounded business professional, with a rich career of regional and global roles in multinational firms.

Closing Ceremony: Celebrating Failure - Panel Discussion
Failure is an inevitable part of life. Letting your failures define you is avoidable. Listen to a failure story shared by our academia leaders:

MAIN ACTIVITIES

ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION (ELI) EXPLORERS
Oral presentations by ELI students who have engaged in basic steps for research.

EURECA CONFERENCE
Opportunity for undergraduate students to present discipline-based research or innovation work. Presentations that employ critical analysis, a sound research process and logical presentation are considered for presentation.

CREATOPIA PERFORMANCES
Activities: Literary salon, film showing, music concert and performances, art, photography and architectural design Exhibition, creative educational games, entrepreneurship expo and ‘Once Upon a Toon’ cartoon workshop.

INTERDISCIPLINARY AWARD FOR ARTISTIC DELIVERY
The best original artistic delivery of a research idea presented through a collaborative work between AUC students from different disciplines.

ACADEMY OF LIBERAL ARTS SYMPOSIUM (ALA)
The Academy of Liberal Arts (ALA) symposium presents research on liberal education, best practices in teaching and high-impact learning activities.

INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDENT GRANTS
Scholarly research and creative work in three categories that cross disciplinary boundaries.

FIRST YEAR RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (FYRE) PANELS
Feature oral presentations by freshman students who have completed research-based projects in any 1000-level course.

AWARD FOR THE DISCIPLINES
Award to an academic department or program that delights in curiosity, wonder, inquiry, and exploration, and advances students original research and creative works.

DESIGN THINKING TEASER
This hands-on Design Thinking day is designed to introduce you to this creative approach to problem solving, where you will learn the tools, mindsets and frameworks of design thinking. You will also get a chance to put these newly-acquired skills into practice by working in teams to design innovative solutions for a real-world challenge.
