Construction Team Makes Use of Contaminated Masks, Gloves in Concrete

With the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of used and contaminated face masks and gloves were being disposed improperly, leading to a possible risk of spreading the virus.  "Additionally, some individuals, sadly, were picking up these objects and using them again or selling them at a cheaper price, thus endangering the lives of others," said Mohamed Nagib Abou-Zeid, professor of construction engineering.

CIMUN Awarded Outstanding Delegation Award for 11th Year in a Row

For the 11th consecutive year, AUC’s Cairo International Model United Nations has received the Outstanding Delegation Award, the most prestigious recognition in the New York-based National Model United Nations. The delegation also went over and above, with six out of eight Position Paper Awards and two Best Delegation Awards for a total of nine awards. CIMUN received these awards with a smaller team this year in the virtual edition of the conference.

AUC Eagles Football Team

The AUC Eagles football and swim teams earned second place in the Fifth Sector Tournament, and athlete Jude Maher achieved second place in the hurdles event of the National Track and Field Tournament for Universities.


Associate Professor Wael Mamdouh's startup company NANO-Fib-TECH recently won a Japanese startup competition. The company develops eco-friendly disinfectants and sanitizers that don't contain alcohol or other harsh chemicals.

Kim Fox, professor of practice of journalism and mass communication, was awarded the Best of Competition award in the International Faculty Audio category for her short-form audio piece, "One Day in January 2011."
