Work Permit and Residency
The Business Support Office welcomes you all to AUC.
Before Arrival to Egypt
The following are the steps to obtain a work permit and residency in Egypt.
- Fill out the work permit data form.
- Send a scanned copy of your passport and last education certificate to business.support@aucegypt.edu.
- The Business Support Office sends all documents to the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Manpower to secure governmental approvals. This process takes from three to six months.
- Until approvals are received and to ensure legal stay in Egypt, faculty members will take an HIV test and the Business Support Office will issue a temporary work permit and residency valid for six months and renewable for another six months, if eligible, in case of delays in governmental approvals.
- The expected arrival date in Egypt must be provided to be included in the required paperwork.
After Arrival in Egypt
- The applicant must contact the Business Support Office for registration and guidance.
- Applicants are required to remain in Egypt for at least one month so staff can process the application using the original passport.
- During this month, the Business Support Office will obtain the necessary approvals and issue a work permit and residency valid until September each year and renewable annually.
- Once the applicant receives the work permit, they may apply for residency visas for their spouse and dependents. The work permit covers the applicant only.
- The Business Support Office will inform faculty and staff members of their appointment for an HIV test at the AUC Clinic conducted by Ministry of Health laboratory staff.
- The work permit is issued after completion of the HIV tests.
- Once the work permit is issued, applicants will receive an email from the Business Support Office to schedule an appointment with the immigration office to finalize residency.
- Family members residing with the applicant must accompany them to the immigration office for residency issuance.
Important Notes
- All applicants must remain in Egypt until the entire process is completed. Otherwise, the HIV test must be repeated.
- Some nationalities may be subject to a different process. Applicants must contact the Business Support Office for assistance at business.support@aucegypt.edu.
