U.S. Loans Eligibility
To qualify for Federal Direct Loans, a student enrolled at AUC must:
• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• Be enrolled at least half-time in an eligible degree program.
• Meet all federal student aid eligibility requirements.
• Not be in default on a federal student loan.
• Not owe a repayment of federal student aid funds.
• Not have exceeded applicable federal aggregate loan limits.
• Complete the FAFSA and any additional documentation requested by the Financial Aid Office.
• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with AUC's SAP Policy.
Some federal loans are based on financial need as determined through information reported on the FAFSA and the Student Aid Index (SAI) (Direct Subsidized Loans). Other federal loans, such as Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Direct PLUS Loans, do not require demonstration of financial need.
