- Make an appointment
- Check AUC undergraduate degree programs by visiting catalog.aucegypt.edu.
- Prepare all your questions before meeting your advisor
During the Advising Session
- Arrive on time
- Participate and be engaged! Communication is the key to a successful advising experience and a good relationship with your advisor.
- Be honest with your advisor and with yourself. What classes do you want to take? What major do you want to explore? This is your decision and your life. Your advisor can help you make the choice that is best for YOU!
- Think about your goals. Don’t keep them to yourself; talk to your advisor!
- Your advisor should discuss the following items during the advising session:
- Possible transferred credits
- Career and educational goals
- Different majors and minors.
- Major declaration requirements.
- Core curriculum requirements.
- Timely Completion Policy
- Arabic Language Requirement
- Course offerings
- Referrals for the catalog, schedule of classesand others
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Be ready to discuss your situation, academic or personal concerns, plans, and goals, with an open mind
After the Advising Session
- Provide your feedback for the advising process by submitting the advising survey
- Write out some of your academic, career, and life goals and any progress you’ve made
- Always check your degree requirements
- Register for the agreed-upon courses
