Events Guidelines During the Pandemic

  • Event: an event is defined as a gathering of 50 or more people
  • Internal Event: an internal event is defined as a gathering in which all of the attendees are faculty, staff or students who have been granted campus access
  • External Event: an external event is defined as a gathering in which nearly all attendees are not current faculty, staff and students. This also includes events which mixes internal and external participants.
  • Meetings, events or workshops of 50 people or less with all internal participants do not need to fill a form. They can move to booking the venue directly, in light of all safety protocols and room capacity. These include workshops, academic meetings, business meetings, panels and presentations
  • Events of more than 50 people with all internal participants need to fill an approval form. This will be directed to the provost’s office for academic events and the office of the VP for student life for student events. Once approved, event organizers can move to booking in the venue directly, in light of all safety protocols and room capacity
  • External events of any size need to fill in a form and will be reviewed
  • Generally speaking, external events will be discouraged on the New Cairo campus, with the exception of key University events like orientation, commencement and the presidential inauguration
  • External events may be permitted on the Tahrir campus, provided the majority of participants are not faculty, staff and students
