Storage Terms and Conditions
Eligibility
The storage service is available exclusively to continuing residents who have a confirmed room assignment for the upcoming fall or spring semester. Students participating in a study-abroad semester must provide proof of return from their respective department to be eligible.
Availability
The storage service is offered only during the Winter and Summer semesters.
Storage Drop-Off Locations
- On-Campus Residences:
- Female residents: Room P0013
- Male residents: Room P004
- Near-Campus Residences:
- Storage rooms are located in the basement of each building.
Storage Process
Residents are responsible for transporting their items to the designated storage locations.
- No staff assistance is provided for carrying items.
- Each resident must be able to lift and place their items on the available shelves without assistance.
- Attention should be paid to the weight of stored items.
- Items left at the entrance of storage areas will be disposed of.
Storage Item Limits
Each resident may store up to four boxes free of charge.
Storage Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times
- Drop-Off: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday, starting two weeks before the last occupancy date of the fall or spring semester.
- Pick-Up: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday, starting two weeks after the first occupancy date of the fall or spring semester.
Approved Storage Items
Residents may store the following:
- Carton Box: Maximum dimensions 30 cm x 40 cm x 50 cm (smaller sizes accepted).
- Carry-On Luggage: Maximum size 22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm (equivalent to one carton box).
- Checked Luggage: Maximum side length 85 cm (equivalent to two carton boxes).
Storage Boxes
Storage carton boxes are available from the storage coordinator during the storage period. Boxes are free of charge if the resident uses the storage service. Otherwise, a fee of EGP 50 will be charged for each unused box.
Labeling Requirements
Each stored item must be clearly labeled with the resident's name, student ID and semester.
Access During Storage Period
Residents will not have access to their stored items during the storage period. It is advised not to store items that may be needed before pick-up. Petitions for access in exceptional cases may be sent to the Office of Residential Life director at reslife@aucegypt.edu.
Packing and Sealing
Residents are responsible for securely packing and sealing all boxes and luggage. The Office of Residential Life is not liable for any loss, damage or destruction resulting from improperly sealed or locked items.
Prohibited Items
Prohibited items include hazardous or dangerous materials such as perfumes, food, bottles or any flammable items.
Right to Refuse
The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to refuse storage of any item that does not meet the specified criteria.
Unclaimed Items
Residents will be charged EGP 500 for any item not claimed within three weeks of the first occupancy date. Items unclaimed after six weeks will be disposed of. The Office of Residential Life assumes no liability for items discarded after this period.
Liability
The Office of Residential Life assumes liability for destruction, loss or damage of stored items up to EGP 100 per item, with a maximum of EGP 500 per student, provided the box or luggage is not defective.
Documentation
Residents must sign a form listing all stored items at drop-off and present this form to retrieve their items during pick-up.
Policy Modifications
The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to modify this policy based on operational needs without prior notice.
Responsibility for Pick-Up (Relocation)
If a resident is assigned to a different residence hall than where their items were stored, it is the resident's responsibility to retrieve their items in the following semester. The Office of Residential Life cannot provide transportation or relocation of stored items.
