Mail Pouch Service
Mail from Cairo to the USA
- An email is sent through the Cultural Excursions mailing list to notify faculty of mail pouch dates.
- A mail pouch is sent twice a month, every other Tuesday. Only flat letters and documents are accepted. Books and packages are not permitted.
- All items must bear the correct domestic US postage. “Forever” stamps are available at the Business Support Office, Room G-20, Administration Building.
- All items must include a US return address, not an address in Egypt.

Mail from the USA to Cairo
- Only books, letters, journals and magazines may be sent through this service. No other packages are accepted.

USA“The American University in Cairo” must appear in the address. Items without this designation will be returned to the sender.
- A FedEx courier collects letters from the Houston warehouse every ten days for shipment to Cairo. Faculty will receive an email upon the arrival of their mail.
- One book shipment is arranged at the end of each month, subject to customs clearance and censorship approval. The Business Support Office will notify faculty once the shipment has cleared and been delivered.
