Student Experience

Interested in salsa dancing and learning how to cook? The new student organizations at AUC have you covered on everything from financial literacy to law.

With the new academic year underway, new clubs have arisen to take students on adventures through Cairo, prepare them for a career in law or even teach peers the simple joy of a home-cooked meal. No matter your interests, there is a student organization for you. Below is a list of the newest ones on campus this fall.

Law Students' Association

  • The Law Students' Association (LSA) was founded to support and unite law students at AUC. “The Law Students' Association is dedicated to creating a vibrant academic community that fosters critical engagement with law, while equipping students with the skills to succeed in both academic and professional arenas,” as described by the club.
  • The association organizes speaker series featuring alumni and law professionals, a video project highlighting AUC law professors, and the club looks forward to launching both a debate club and podcast series.
  • Interested students can contact the LSA through AUC-Connect, [email protected]@auclsa on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Urbanists

  • The Urbanists is for students curious about exploring cities and untangling how public spaces influence our daily lives. In their own words, “It’s a chance to step outside the classroom, explore and start real conversations about urban issues in an engaging way.” It is launching its tours program for AUCians this year to explore and reconnect with Cairo. The Urbanists also organizes other events including workshops, community projects, guest lectures and design challenges.
  • Students can contact the Urbanists through AUC-Connect, [email protected] and @urbanists_auc on Instagram.

Sustainable Development Association

  • The Sustainable Development Association’s goal is to “build an actionable, student-led sustainability community at AUC, launching projects and partnerships that create immediate impact while establishing a legacy that future students can carry forward long after we graduate.”
  • To achieve this, the SDA organizes actionable programming including expert talks, student roundtables, eco-hikes, tree planting and capacity-building workshops.
  • The SDA can be reached on AUC-Connect, [email protected], @auc_sda on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Fincon Club

  • The Fincon Club empowers students of all majors to invest in their financial literacy. The club organizes on-campus events, including career preparation initiatives for finance and economics majors, community-building activities, financial literacy campaigns and workshops that join the classroom with the real world.
  • “Our vision is to be the premier student organization at AUC for fostering both financial literacy and career readiness, creating a well-educated community where students from all backgrounds can gain practical skills, make informed decisions, and build successful careers,” said the Fincon Club.
  • Membership is open to all AUC undergraduate students and interested students can contact the Fincon Club on AUC-Connect,  [email protected] or @fincon_auc on Instagram.

Amin’s AUC

  • Amin’s AUC organizes junior development programs that empower young people to harness their potential and grow into ethical, emotionally intelligent and socially responsible leaders. The club coordinates weekly visits to public schools, where members lead educational workshops for school children.
  • Amin’s AUC can be contacted on AUC-Connect, [email protected] and @amins.auc on Instagram.

Cooking Club

  • The Cooking Club is a community that celebrates international cuisine and teaches students essential cooking skills to foster cultural exchange. The club organizes cooking classes, cultural food events and friendly cooking competitions. Interested students can contact the Cooking Club on AUC-Connect or at [email protected].

AUC Latin Dance Club

  • AUC Latin Dance Club is an inclusive community for dancers of all levels to explore the vibrant styles of Latin dance. The club holds weekly salsa and bachata classes led by professional international and local Latin dance instructors. Students have the opportunity to perform locally and represent AUC internationally.
  • Interested students do not need a dance background to apply and can contact the club on AUC-Connect, [email protected] or @auc.latin on Instagram.

Sustainability, Energy and Nanomaterials Association

  • The Sustainability Energy and Nanomaterials Association connects students with experts in electrochemistry, energy and nanotechnology to engage in scientific discussions and gain real-world experience. The club organizes industrial visits, networking events and educational workshops to cement academic concepts in real-world applications. Students can contact the association at [email protected].

History, Philosophy and English and Comparative Literature Student Association

  • The History, Philosophy and English and Comparative Literature Student Association (HIPE) is a space for students to develop their critical thinking and engage with humanities in their daily lives. HIPE utilizes both AUC’s international community and humanities faculty to explore ideas, facilitate projects and create discussions of international intellectual exchange. Interested students can email HIPE for further information at [email protected]
