Tuesdays in Tahrir

Tuesdays in Tahrir is an initiative designed to encourage faculty to bring their students to AUC Tahrir Square for classes, workshops and hands-on learning experiences.

The first time I saw Tahrir, I cried. It was at night, maybe three weeks after I first arrived in Cairo. My friend pointed to her left: “This is the famous Tahrir Square,” then to the right: “This is AUC, our Tahrir campus.” Weeks later, I toured the historic palace for the first time. I was anxious, overwhelmed — the history attached to that plot of land felt vast in a way I couldn’t yet hold.

Engage in Cultural Programming

  • Attend concerts, theater performances, art exhibitions and film screenings.

  • Partner with the AUC Tahrir Programming team to create events that connect your field with the wider community.

Host Academic Activities

  • Hold classes, seminars or workshops in fully equipped classrooms.

  • Organize guest lectures or panel discussions.

  • Use spaces for student projects, research presentations or collaborations.

  • Pasqua Cafeteria offering meals, snacks, and beverages

  • ATM machines located in the cafeteria.

  • AUC Bookstore, galleries, study areas, and outdoor seating spaces that enhance the overall campus experience

  • Faculty lounge

  • Free shuttle bus service for faculty and students between AUC New Cairo and AUC Tahrir Square (fixed schedule).

  • Special shuttle arrangements available for events or academic needs.

How to Participate?

Faculty members interested in joining the initiative may simply:

  1. Select a Tuesday to bring their class.
  2. Inform the Tahrir Programming team of the preferred time, class size, and any special requirements.
  3. Confirm shuttle and classroom arrangements.
