'Counting My Blessings:' A Story of Strength, Patience and Faith

Manar Kheir, a freshman and recipient of a scholarship at AUC funded by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, was six months old when her parents realized there was a problem with her eyesight. They took her to the doctor, hoping to find a solution to her deteriorating vision, but were informed that she would eventually go blind and nothing could be done to stop it. "Do you have any advice?" Kheir’s parents asked the doctor, still holding on to a little strand of hope that their daughter would recover.

Mariam Ibrahim '19 Designs Hospital Gowns to Track Patient Health, Featured on CNN

Mariam Ibrahim '19, a graphic design graduate, was featured on CNN and at the Global Grad Show in Dubai for her project Hale, a series of hospital garments designed to improve a patient's sense of well-being. Made with antibacterial materials, the gowns use sensors to track a patient's temperature, blood pressure, oxygen and other vital signs.

AUC PhD Student Wins L'OREAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Award

Sarah Halawa '11, '14, PhD candidate in applied sciences at AUC, received the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award for her doctoral dissertation on the genetics and epigenetics of cardiovascular diseases, with potential implications on valve tissue engineering approaches. The research is a joint venture between AUC and the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation. Read More
