Videoconferencing (VC) technology allows real-time interaction between instructors and students using real-time audio and video. It also allows the broadcasting of document cameras, movies and content from computer screens to the other side, thus providing an opportunity for teaching and learning across the globe. Through an ASHA grant, the (CLT) has established a general video production studio that is planned to serve The American University in Cairo's (AUC) faculty members working on developing high-quality video and audio for instructional purposes; specifically for blended and online courses. The production of these videos is expected to enrich instructional modules offered online. The studio is housed within the AUC Library, ground level (G040) and is managed and operated by CLT. During the spring semester of 2009, CLT piloted lecture capture technology using the Panopto lecture capture system. The Panopto lecture capture system automatically records audio with or without video, as well as any content from presentations.  It also makes recordings available for play-back in a digital format using any web browser, as well as audio and video podcasts, with the recorded audio or video in-sync with visual content.
