AUC offers housing in two distinct areas, each with unique features and advantages.
New Cairo Neighborhood
The AUC housing complex is centrally located in New Cairo, approximately 500 meters (550 yards) from AUC New Cairo Gate 4. The area offers a calm environment with fresh air and convenient walking access to campus facilities, including a small grocery market and a comprehensive sports complex. The neighborhood also features a wide range of commercial and entertainment options.
Transportation
AUC provides a dedicated shuttle bus service to nearby commercial areas and the campus. Regular AUC bus routes operate throughout the day to several Cairo neighborhoods, including Downtown, El Rehab, Maadi and Zamalek.
Education
The area is home to several international schools, such as New Cairo British International School, the Canadian International School, the Modern English School and the American International School.
Commute Times (Approximate)
Travel times to other parts of Cairo range from about 40 minutes (Maadi, Heliopolis, Nasr City) to one hour (Garden City, Downtown). Afternoon return trips may take longer due to traffic.
Maadi Neighborhood
Located about 20 km (12 miles) southwest of AUC New Cairo, Maadi is a family-oriented neighborhood situated 10 km south of Downtown Cairo.
Transportation
AUC provides free bus service to the New Cairo campus for faculty and staff, with a travel time of approximately 50 minutes, depending on traffic. The metro offers the easiest connection to Downtown Cairo.
Education
Maadi hosts several international schools, including Cairo American College, the French Lycée, and Maadi British International School, as well as a number of nurseries.
AUC Housing Details
University-owned housing for eligible relocated hires is primarily located in Plot 38 and Plot 51, south and southwest of the New Cairo campus.
Faculty members are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Housing Office at [email protected] to visit the site. Annual rent rates and apartment models are available online.

University-owned apartments are distributed across two buildings, with configurations designed to meet the varying needs of relocated faculty and staff.

Allocation Process
Apartment allocation is based on individual and family needs; however, all requests are subject to limited availability. A formal application process ensures fair allocation and the best possible match between available units and resident preferences.
