Health Regulations

Find below measures as decreed by the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population (preventive sector) for health regulations to enter Egypt:

  • Passengers should wear face masks during the flight. For more information about health, precautions click here

  • A health declaration form should be filled by the passengers during the flight and before landing and to be delivered to the quarantine authorities upon arrival on all international flights. For the health declaration form click here

  • Passengers traveling to Egypt should be screened at the airport of departure

  • Passengers who are suffering from a temperature (equal/above) 38C or those who are suffering from one of the respiratory symptoms (cough/sneezing/shortness of breath) are not allowed to board the aircraft

  • In case of any of the respiratory symptoms appear on a passenger during the flight, all necessary precautions must be taken if possible by (separate the suspected passenger in an area far from the rest of the passengers/assign one of the cabin crew members to serve the sick passenger/provide a bathroom for the sick passenger only)

  • The disinfection of the aircraft and the disinfection of aircraft's air conditions filters will be done according to World Health Organization guidelines and aircraft will not be allowed to take off again till obtaining a sanitary quarantine approval from the Egyptian quarantine authorities

  • The health condition of passengers coming to Egypt will be tracked for 14 days by the quarantine authorities and ministry of health offices

  • Global insurance is required from foreign passengers traveling to Egypt

Commercial Flight Updates:

Lufthansa schedule: (5 times weekly)

  • LH 585 from Cairo to Frankfurt on days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 

          Departure at 2:35 am and arrival 7:00 am

  • LH 584 from Frankfurt to Cairo on days Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday

          Departure at 9:15 pm and arrival 1:25 am (next-day)

 

Austrian Airlines schedule: (Three times weekly )

  • OS 866 from Cairo to Vienna on days Monday, Friday and Sunday

          Departure at 2:25 am and arrival 6:05 am

  • OS 865 from Vienna to Cairo on days Thursday, Saturday and Sunday

         Departure at 10:15 pm and arrival 1:40 am (next-day)

Turkish Airlines:

  • Flights to/from Cairo to Istanbul from July 1 to 5, 2020 are canceled.

General Rules at Airports:

  • Passengers are obliged to wear masks inside the terminal and onboard. Passengers who are not wearing masks are denied for both boarding and access to the terminal

  • All passengers must wear face masks at all-time in the airport and onboard. As a guide, a face mask could last up to four hours, so passengers are required to make sure that they have enough masks for the duration of the trip

  • All passengers at the airport are screened by thermal cameras and/or body temperature measurements

  • Passengers who will come to the airport are required to disclose their address of stay within the borders of arrival country to their airline company before the flight

  • Passengers who are intending to travel are required to have private health insurance

  • Passengers are tested for COVID-19 by health personnel duty on board of aircraft

  • Hand sanitizers have been set up at the airport

  • Seating areas have been rearranged according to rules of social distancing

 

French Airports Rules:

  • Travelers coming from outside of the European space (all countries except European Union member states [except Spain], Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Holy See), as well as travelers coming from the United Kingdom and from Spain (by air only), will be invited to carry out a two-weeks quarantine at home, or in a dedicated location provided if needed, upon arrival in France

  • Travelers coming from inside of the European space (European Union member states [except Spain], Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Holy See), will not be subject to any sanitary measures if they show no symptoms of a COVID-19 infection

  • Travelers to French overseas territories or travelers showing signs of  COVID-19 infection upon arrival on the French territory will have to carry out a mandatory two-weeks quarantine at home or in a dedicated location provided if needed

  • In the context of the implementation of the state of health emergency in France because of the COVID-19 pandemic, access restrictions to mainland France and French overseas territories are in effect

Every traveler is requested to fill out and carry one of the following travel certificates according to his situation:

  • For international travel from abroad to mainland France

  • For international travel from abroad to French overseas territories 

  • For a trip from mainland France to French overseas territories travelers are requested to fill out and carry with them a statement certifying they do not have any symptoms of a COVID-19 infection

The certificate and the statement to be presented to the transportation companies before boarding, as well as to border control authorities. Check the forms below:

  • There are NO duty-free at the German airports

  • The health declaration form of non-COVID has been integrated and is now part of the main certificate. For the health declaration form in English, click here. For the health declaration form in Arabic click here

  • The passengers have to take the forms printed on their way to the airport and upon arrival in UAE

  • The passengers will not be allowed to check-in if they don't carry the printed documents

  • Starting July 9, if you are flying with Emirates from the countries or airports specified below, you must carry a negative COVID-19 test certificate issued by a local government approved laboratory to be accepted on the flight. Where specified, a certificate from a UAE government-designated laboratory in the country of origin is also acceptable. Certificates must be issued no more than 96 hours before departure:

United States Airports - Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO), including passengers originating from California, Florida and Texas connecting to an Emirates flight to Dubai.

According to the regulations received from the Ethiopian Authorities for passengers arriving in Addis Ababa airport, note that the passengers traveling to Ethiopia should follow the following regulations:

  • Passengers must bring a PCR test with a negative result done within 72 hours before the flight departure
  • Upon arrival in Addis, they will give their sample and go home and self-quarantine for 14 days with the government follow up
  • Those passengers who don’t have a PCR test result will be placed in a designated hotel for seven days on the passenger’s expenses, their sample will be taken before leaving the hotel and they are expected to self-quarantine at their home for seven days more with government follow up
  • If a passenger shows at Cairo Airport with no PCR test, an invoice for hotel accommodation will be needed to be issued by our Terminal 3 office
  •  The rate of the hotel is changeable according to the availability upon arrival

 

Airlines Updates

For the Aircrafts:

  • All staff uses personal protective equipment and hand disinfectants

  • Aircraft undergo an extensive cleaning process upon completing their flight, under the guidelines of national and international civil aviation authorities

  • All items used during meals, such as forks, spoons, glasses, and plates are disinfected in addition to the regular washing process and all in-flight items will be used according to IATA rules

 

British Airways:

Before departure to the UK; the UK Government has introduced new rules for customers arriving in the UK from  June 8, 2020. It’s now mandatory that travelers provide information about their journey alongside their contact details before landing in the UK. When travelers arrive in the UK, they must self-isolate for 14 days at the place they are staying

  • All aircraft are fitted with HEPA filters which remove particulate and bacterial contamination and provide passengers with clean air. They provide the same level of air filtration as hospital operating theatres

  • Special dietary requirements or allergies will not be catered to

  • Passengers can eat any food brought with them that does not require heating or chilling. We will continue to assist parents who need to heat milk for their children

  • Food or drinks will not be available to purchase onboard of short-haul flights; instead, they will be offering complimentary light refreshments and water. Hot drinks will be available on request

  • If you would like to bring food onboard, you can purchase food before you reach the airport, as many restaurants and shops at the airport may be closed

 

Turkish Airlines: 

  • Before the entrance of standard cleaning staff, a special four-person hygiene team cleans the aircraft in detail with disinfectants

  • The surfaces that passengers come into contacts with, such as tray tables, inflight entertainment screens, seat belt buckles, and overhead bins are cleaned thoroughly with strong disinfectants using area-specific microfiber cloths

  • In the case of a potentially sick passenger on board, our aircraft undergo a disinfection process with chemicals approved by the World Health Organization and aircraft manufacturers

  • Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of masks, disposable gloves, and disinfectants in aircraft has been increased

  • In compliance with the related procedures, crews observe passengers while welcoming them on board and throughout the flight. Passengers showing symptoms of the virus undergo medical examinations through the related country’s health authority

  • The cabin air is continuously cleaned during the flight by hospital-grade High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters. This filtration system wholly and periodically refreshes the air during the trip

  • All the shuttles transferring passengers to the aircraft are cleaned with disinfectants

 

Air France:

Air France will start operating every Saturday on a weekly basis to Paris starting June 6, 2020

  • All travelers entering France from non-Schengen countries are required to fill a form

  • The self-declaration form of non-COVID has been integrated and is now part of the main certificate in the attachment

  • Passengers must hold this mandatory certificate at check-in

Lufthansa:

Regular flights to Cairo will resume as of June 16, 2020. Initially, Lufthansa is offering three weekly frequencies, LH585 from Cairo to Frankfurt on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and LH584 from Frankfurt to Cairo on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday subject to the lifting of the Egyptian International Aviation Suspension

  • There are or magazines or newspapers on the Lufthansa flights
 

Austrian Airlines:

  • Starting from  June 15, 2020, Austrian Airlines will be taking off again after an almost 90-days break and will be flying to 37 destinations in the first two weeks of operations

  • Additional destinations are to be added in the following weeks. As soon as sufficient feeder traffic is available again on short and medium-haul routes. Austrian Airlines will also offer long-haul flights again, possibly as early as July

  • The Austrian Airlines flight offer from/to Vienna from June 15, 2020, to June 28, 2020

  • Starting from June 15, 2020: Amsterdam, Athens, Basel, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Larnaca, London, Munich, Paris, Pristina, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Varna, and Zurich

  • Starting from June 22, 2020, these destinations will be added: Belgrade, Graz, Innsbruck, Kieve, Košice, Milan, Nice, Prague, Split, and Warsaw

 

Etihad Airways:

  • Passengers will have limited touchpoints and allowed for social distancing throughout their journey

  • Etihad Airways have introduced a team of wellness ambassadors. They will offer help and advise whenever travelers need it

  • The wellness ambassadors are available online, at the airport and onboard, to make sure guests feel comfortable and safe at every step of their journey

  • Etihad Airways team will wear face masks and personal protective equipment at all times

  • All of the food goes through rigorous testing before bringing it on board and serve it in line with strict COVID-19 guidelines

  • New wellness kits will include a face mask, gloves, and hand gel
