Arabic Language Intensive Summer Program (ALIS)

The Department of Arabic Language Instruction offers an unforgettable summer of language and cultural learning experience. The Arabic Language Intensive Summer program (ALIS) is an extension of the Arabic Language Intensive (ALIN) that is offered in the fall and spring semesters. The ALIS program provides tailored courses, subject to the resources availability, to help learners from around the world to better seize and expand their career opportunities, while helping them view the world from a new window.

 

Who is it for?

  • The Arabic Language Intensive Summer Program (ALIS) offers tailored intensive Arabic language courses, catering for summer learners from all over the world who need to gain a broad understanding and a good command of contemporary Arabic language and culture as quickly and as effectively as possible. 
  • Non-native Arabic speakers and students of Arab origin with different professional backgrounds and, but not limited to, learners with specific career aspirations
  • Study abroad and non-degree learners wishing to explore a new language and open new opportunities

What does it offer?

  • A summer program that offers 7 weeks of intensive summer training, where students receive 6­-8 credit hours in this program depending on their level.
  • A number of electives are offered, from which each student may take up to two (based on their levels).
  • Accommodates all skill levels with elementary, intermediate, and advanced courses.
  • Courses include MSA, ECA, media, writing and academic electives and supervised studies, such as translation, Quran reading and the Bible parables.
  • Incorporates an important cultural dimension; learners explore the culture and use the language through free tours and subsidized weekend trips, and through cultural activities including calligraphy, music, singing and dancing (non-credit).

Tuition and Fees

Students must register for at least 12 credit hours. Students who register for less than 15 credits will be reimbursed the difference during the drop and add week.

Visa Requirements

An accepted student must have a valid passport and obtain a tourist visa from the Egyptian government for entry into Egypt.
