ALNG courses not only help students enrich their Arabic language skills using fun and versatile teaching techniques, but it also expands their knowledge and understanding of the Egyptian culture, media, the usage of Arabic language for career purposes, and much more.

Egyptian Culture on Film course with Dr. Ola Hashad is the type of course in which one gets exposed to various ideas and perceptions on film industry across different ruling periods in Egypt. The course is instructed in a very interesting & fruitful way to make sure that students by the end of it not only can they understand Arabic language more thoroughly, but also have a greater picture of the dynamics of Egyptian Cinema as a reflection tool of the society’s reality. For me as a graduating senior, I would highly recommend the course as it was very enjoyable experience from all aspects

Before entering this class I was very scared because I’m really bad at reading Arabic let alone writing, but I assure you that this has been an amazing experience for me. Not only did I enrich my Arabic, in a fun way, but I also got to know and understand our culture just by watching movies. I’m 100% sure you won’t regret taking this class and just by speaking to Dr. Ola I know you’ll love to join, she’s very understanding and she will always want you to improve and become better

The methods used by Dr. Ola Hashad made me enjoy learning the language even more that basically happened through her versatile techniques and methods; and for that I am beyond grateful

I took this course knowing absolutely nothing about it, but I fell in love with it instantly. This course allows the puzzle pieces to fit together. I started understanding the hidden meanings and symbols in movies and it just made me realize how artistic and influential movies actually are. I was also able to enhance my Arabic during the course, especially since we were taught Arabic in a way that makes it seem so simple and makes you love Arabic even more. If you're looking for an interesting course and an amazing professor, then this course is the one for you.

For me, the course was super interesting. I loved the idea of that debate and discussion we do after we see each movie which is like a reflection on the movie about our opinions plus that the movies were too interesting.

The Egyptian Culture on Film course really helped me develop my Arabic skills specially writing. We also had a lot of presentations with the help of Dr. Ola. The tools she gave us, completely improved my Arabic writing and speaking skills. In general the course is really informative, but in a very interesting way which is watching movies and reflecting on them. This is one of my favorite courses ever at AUC
