Appointment of Ayman Abdellatif as the Senior Vice President

October 14, 2020

Dear AUC Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce an organizational streamlining to advance AUC’s standing as an institution that is student-centered, faculty-lead and staff-enabled. AUC is unique in Egyptian higher education, but we cannot be complacent in the face of increasing competition globally and in Egypt. Rather, we must relentlessly evolve and improve by focusing even more on the needs and interests of our stakeholders. Devolving more of the administrative leadership responsibilities heretofore shouldered more directly by the presidency will also allow me, and future presidents, to devote more time to external representation and advocacy. This includes engagement with current and prospective donors who understand the importance of our mission.

Effective October 1, Ayman Abdellatif has undertaken gathering and coordinating all shared services under a single expanded portfolio as Senior Vice President for Administration, Planning and Transformation. SVP Abdellatif will be chairing the capital planning committee in addition to the following existing functions under their continuing dedicated leaders:

  • Management and Operations - led by VP Shereen Shaker
  • Human Resources - led by Senior AVP Sarah Refaat
  • Digital Transformation - led by AVP Iman Megahed
  • Procurement Services – led by Executive Director Ibrahim Yacoub

Beyond the leadership qualities SVP Abdellatif has already demonstrated during his initial tenure with AUC, he also brings years of experience and customer focus from his senior executive positions in Microsoft and VMware, among other leading international companies, and his previous public service.

I thank all of AUC’s top leadership and their individual area teams for the exceptional accomplishments they continue to achieve, as faculty and staff join in accelerating AUC’s advancement into this new era. We are succeeding in our aim to exploit rather than merely to cope with the global disruptions of our times. I am confident that together, AUC will continue to thrive.
