Type Design - Minor

Program Overview

AUC’s broad-based liberal arts education allows you to diversify your learning with a minor or two — helping you develop skills complementary to your primary area of study and demonstrating to potential employers that you have range.

Delve into the exciting world of typography with the minor in type design. The minor offers a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of type, with a special focus on both Latin and Arabic typography. You'll learn the skills needed to manipulate and use typography effectively, as well as gain valuable insights into the history of Arabic script and type. You'll learn how to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate fonts, develop lettering styles and work in the editorial design industry. For students considering a career in the design industry, that is critical. Whether you're interested in becoming a professional type designer, typographer or editorial designer, joining a type foundry, setting up your own foundry, or working as a freelancer, this program will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
