Zeinab Taha is a professor of Arabic language and linguistics at The American University in Cairo. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The American University in Cairo and her PhD from Georgetown University in 1995. She has been working in the field of teaching Arabic as a foreign language for decades. After obtaining her master’s in teaching Arabic as a foreign language, she taught in highly reputable universities in the United States and Europe in addition to the Arabic Language Institute at The American University in Cairo, where she assumed the position of its director in addition to being the co-director of the Center for Arabic Studies Abroad. Most recently, she was the interim dean for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at AUC from 2019 to 2021. In 2023, she led the merger between the departments of applied linguistics and educational studies. Her publications are in the fields of applied and theoretical linguistics, especially on grammatical theory, semantics, language variation, and analyzing political discourse.
