Mohamed Elkaramany is an assistant professor at the Department of Public Policy and Administration at The American University in Cairo (AUC). His experience spans both academia and practice, where he previously held several positions in the government, nonprofit and consulting sectors, including the founding director of the Growth Lab in the Egyptian Food Bank. He uniquely leverages his blended academic and professional experience across public, private and nonprofit sectors to provide students with a vital policy practitioner perspective, bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world policy challenges. He also served as a consultant with several organizations, including the German International Cooperation (GIZ), the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) and the World Bank.
Elkaramany obtained his PhD in public policy from Oregon State University in 2020 and his master's in public policy from The American University in Cairo in 2015. He also completed a Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship in public policy at the University of Washington in 2014.
