Mohamed Abdallah

Mohamed Abdallah is an associate professor of environmental engineering in the Department of Construction Engineering at The American University in Cairo (AUC). His areas of expertise include sustainable waste management, waste-to-energy, life cycle assessment, smart environmental systems and artificial intelligence applications. He earned his PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Ottawa, where he continues to serve as an adjunct professor.
From 2016 to 2025, Abdallah served as associate professor and coordinator of the MSc program in environmental science and engineering at the University of Sharjah. He has published more than 60 papers in top-tier journals, over 20 conference papers, five book chapters and holds a US patent. He has secured more than $2 million in research funding from national and international grants.
Abdallah is an active technical expert for Canada’s Federal Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit System and currently chairs the UAE chapter of the Global Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council. In addition to his academic roles, he is a licensed professional engineer in Canada with extensive experience in international consultancies. His work includes major infrastructure and sustainability projects across North America, South America, Asia and Africa. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
