Professor Mohamad Al-Ississ, a four-time Harvard graduate, has been a principal architect of Jordan's fiscal and economic policymaking over the past eight years. He has served as minister of finance, minister of planning and international cooperation, minister of state for economic affairs, senator, economic advisor and special advisor to His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. He currently serves as the dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and a tenured professor of economics at The American University in Cairo. Earlier in his career, he held positions at the Harvard Kennedy School, The American University in Cairo and the Boston Consulting Group.

Al-Ississ holds a PhD in public policy (economic development) from Harvard University, a master's in public administration in international development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government; a master's in Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University; and a bachelor's with honors in economics from Harvard College.

He was named "Minister of Finance of the Year 2024" for the Middle East by the Financial Times' The Banker magazine. During his tenure, Jordan secured its first sovereign credit rating upgrades from Standard & Poor's and Moody's in more than two decades. He led and executed three Eurobond issuances totaling $3.7 billion. He negotiated and led Jordan's IMF Extended Fund Facilities for 2020–2024 and 2024–2028, and concluded the 2020 IMF Rapid Financing Instrument. He has served as Jordan's governor to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and other international financial institutions.

Al-Ississ was named and served as a visiting scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School in the Spring 2014 semester and lectured in the Harvard Kennedy School's Mid-Career MPA Program from 2011 to 2015.
