Brief Biography

Moataz Darwish is an associate professor of practice at the Onsi Sawiris School of Business and a former senior Shell executive. He brings 25 years of experience in energy management, alongside his academic and executive training expertise. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, where he was awarded a partial scholarship for his research in strategy and entrepreneurship, analyzing the mental and business models of Big Tech and Big Oil firms. He also holds an MBA and is eligible for a master's degree in research. In recent years, he has participated in executive programs at INSEAD, Oxford and other leading business schools.

Darwish has been an executive education instructor for 15 years at the AUC School of Business and the Edinburgh Business School MBA program. His teaching and research interests include strategy, entrepreneurship, leadership excellence and training. He is also an active member of the AUC Angel Investors Network and co-chair of the AmCham Egypt Oil and Gas Committee.

Before joining AUC, Darwish spent 16 years with Shell Plc in senior roles, including deputy country chair for Shell Companies in Egypt. He previously served as commercial manager for the UK Southern North Sea at NAM, a Shell/ExxonMobil joint venture in the Netherlands. Earlier, he was country commercial director, executive team member and board director for the NATGAS and Nubariya companies. He has extensive experience in commercial negotiations, strategy and business development and corporate affairs.
