Dina Wahba

Brief Biography

Dina Wahba is a political scientist specializing in gender and politics, affect and emotions, authoritarianism and environmental activism in the Middle East and North Africa. Before joining The American University in Cairo as a DAAD long-term lecturer, she held research positions at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute, Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Salzburg. She is the author of Counter-Revolutionary Egypt: From the Midan to the Neighbourhood and has published widely on militarized masculinities, political subjectivities, environmental engagement and knowledge production. Wahba's current research examines how affective relations, everyday practices and locally grounded forms of knowledge sustain political and environmental engagement under conditions of repression and inequality.
