Ahmed Gowida is an assistant professor in the Department of Petroleum and Energy Engineering at The American University in Cairo. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in petroleum engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, where he subsequently served as a postdoctoral fellow. His research focuses on intelligent and automated drilling systems, AI-driven solutions for the energy industry, sustainable drilling fluids, low-carbon well construction and geothermal drilling technologies, to advance safer, more efficient and sustainable energy development. He has authored and co-authored more than 40 technical publications and contributed to the development of multiple patented technologies. Gowida is a certified instructor from the International Association of Drilling Contractors and a recipient of several international and regional awards. He is also actively engaged in the Society of Petroleum Engineers' international committees and programs, contributing to technical initiatives, student development, mentorship and professional service.
