Ahmed Faheem

Brief Biography

Ahmed Faheem is a seasoned researcher with more than 15 years of experience managing and conducting scientific research on roadway engineering projects. His academic research has generated more than $5 million in research expenditures and produced over 50 peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings. His research topics include the use of AI and computer vision in roadway management and repair, waste materials utilization and upcycling and material production and construction innovations for sustainable roads. This work has led to the graduation of more than 20 PhD and MSc students. He founded the Temple University chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). Throughout his academic career, he has involved more than 60 undergraduate students in research projects under his supervision. Faheem was recently awarded the prestigious Fulbright US Scholar Award, among other honors. He is an active member of numerous technical societies, a panelist for international scientific funding organizations and a reviewer for multiple highly regarded journals. Before working in academia, he spent five years in industry. His industrial experience includes consulting on multiple highway mega projects, developing maintenance and rehabilitation plans for transportation authorities and conducting value engineering studies.

Before joining The American University in Cairo (AUC), he held several positions at universities in the United States and the UAE, including associate professor at Temple University and Khalifa University and assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. He also served as director of research at Bloom Companies of Wisconsin.
