Contributions from donors have helped establish a number of awards to honor family members, colleagues and student achievements. Eligible students are selected by the departments responsible for administering the awards.
Endowed awards provide, in perpetuity, cash prizes to deserving students.
Ahmed El Mehallawi Family Endowed Award: Established in 1996 to provide a biannual cash award to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellent academic achievement, has enrolled in extracurricular activities including community service and has a minimum grade point average of 2.70 out of 4.00.
Ahmed Fakhry ’89 Endowed Award in Egyptology: Established in 1985 to provide an annual cash award to the most outstanding Egyptology junior.
Ahmed Zewail Prize for Excellence in the Sciences and Humanities: Established in 2001 as a current fund, and endowed in 2010, to provide a biannual cash award to an honors graduate whose academic accomplishments demonstrate extraordinary commitment to the pursuit of scientific inquiry and the affirmation of human values.
Anand Mehta ’92 Endowed Award in MUN Participation: Established in 1993 to support Egyptian students' participation in an annual Model United Nations (MUN) conference abroad.
Beatrice and Roger Carlson Endowed Prize in Academic Merit: Established in 1985 to provide a cash prize to a female student who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need to purchase books.
Dr. Abdel Rahman El Sawy Endowed Award: Established in 2000 to provide a biannual cash award to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in the School of Sciences and Engineering who was also a recipient of a Public School Scholarship.
Fadel Assabghy Memorial Award: Established in 2012 to provide an annual cash award for the best graduate thesis in the School of Sciences and Engineering every fall.
George T. Scanlon Graduate Student Award in Arab and Islamic Civilizations: Established in 2015 to provide an annual cash award for the most distinguished graduate thesis produced by an Arab and Islamic Civilizations (ARIC) student in a given academic year.
Madalyn Lamont Endowed Literary Award: Established in 1986 to provide a cash award to students with an outstanding creative achievement in poetry, drama, fiction or essay writing.
Magda Al-Nowaihi ’78 Graduate Student Endowed Award in Gender Studies: Established in 2003 to award an MA thesis in any of AUC's graduate programs that focuses on gender relations issues.
Medhat Haroun Memorial Award: Established in 2012 to provide an annual cash award for the best graduate thesis in the School of Sciences and Engineering.
Mohamed El Beleidy Endowed Academic Award: Established in 1985 to provide a biannual cash award to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average.
Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim A. Allehedan Endowed Graduate Award: Established in 2017 to provide a bi-annual cash award given to a science and engineering graduate who demonstrates excellence in their studies and has the highest grade point average.
Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim A. Allehedan Endowed Undergraduate Award: Established in 2017 to provide a bi-annual cash award given to a science and engineering undergraduate who demonstrates excellence in their studies and has the highest grade point average.
Nadia Niazi Mostafa Endowed Award in Islamic Art and Architecture: Established in 1999 to award a second-year Egyptian student enrolled in the Arabic studies graduate program who specializes in Islamic art and architecture, wishes to pursue full-time study in the program and has a minimum grade point average of 3.20 out of 4.00.
Nadia Younes Endowed Award for Public and Humanitarian Service: Established in 2004 to provide a biannual cash award to a graduating senior who has exhibited outstanding commitment to community and humanitarian service, was an active participant in the Model United Nations program and has a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 out of 4.00.
Reda Salama Endowed Prize in Literature and Science: Established in 1988 to award the best third-year secondary student enrolled each term in the School of Continuing Education's English Language Program.
Samiha El Barkouky Endowed Award in Egyptology: Established in 2002 to award a graduating Egyptology senior who demonstrates academic merit with a grade point average of 3.30 out of 4.00 or higher.
Tewfik Doss Pasha Award: Established in 1996 to provide an award alternately to the best graduate thesis in English and comparative literature or political science.
The Jehane Ragai and John Thomas Highest Achiever in Chemistry Award: Established in 2016 to provide a bi-annual award for the highest achiever in chemistry at the undergraduate level. The award will be announced at the school honors ceremony.
Waheed Samy Endowed Award: Established in 2012 to provide an annual cash prize to the winner of an Arabic writing competition. Applicants can be undergraduate or graduate students and must be learners of Arabic as a foreign language and enrolled in Arabic language courses at the advanced level at AUC or in U.S. universities.
25th January Award for Scholarly Excellence: Established in 2011 to award an AUC graduate student who writes an outstanding thesis on a topic related to democracy, human rights, citizenship and sustainable development in the Middle East and North Africa.
Valerie Farag Musical Award: Established in 2016 to provide a biannual cash award to the highest performing students.
