Office of Sustainability

Mission 

The mission of the Office of Sustainability is to reduce the overall University environmental load where possible, both in the AUC New Cairo campus, Tahrir Square Campus, and the University's off-campus properties by instilling a culture of environmental responsibility, outreach, and engagement initiatives and activities. 

Vision

Our vision is to lead the University into the future by promoting sustainable practices across the campus schools, departments, and units. We aspire to pioneer the greenest campus in Egypt, achieving environmental resilience, systems decarbonization, and promoting community wellbeing and eco-friendly practices where possible.

What We Do

The Office of Sustainability issues a biennial Carbon Footprint Report, biennial Sustainability Report, AUC Green Guide awareness brochure, and consistently advocates for a greener campus through the monthly sustainability e-newsletter, in addition to being a coordinator of a number of campus-wide committees focused on campus energy, water, and waste management. The office celebrates global environmental events on campus, such as Earth Week, Campus Sustainability Month, Conference of Parties (COP), and other events. The office is a main contributor to the University accreditation initiatives and reporting. In addition, the office promotes campus outreach programs, facilitates, and promotes student-led sustainability events through various channels.
