Dr. Ziad Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin is an attorney-at-law and a former member of the Egyptian Parliament representing South Assiut for the Egyptian Democratic Social Party. He is also former chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (2004-2007), senior legal adviser and board member of the Central Bank of Egypt and a member of the board of directors of the National Bank of Egypt. He is the founder and a member of the board of directors of the Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin Cultural Foundation, which promotes education, training and creative thinking among Egyptian youth in Upper Egypt. Bahaa-Eldin received a BA in economics from AUC, a Bachelor of Law from Cairo University in 1986, a master’s degree in international business law (LLM) from Kin g’s College London and a PhD in financial law from the London School of Economics in 1996.
