Utilizing metagenomics, a contemporary approach to instigate biological life, Rania Siam, associate professor of biology, and her team explore microbial life in several brine pools in the Red Sea to identify novel microbes and bacterial communities and their associated genes, as well as map new genes that have diverse biotechnological and pharmaceutical applications.
At AUC’s Libraries, our savvy staff and top-notch resources support learning, research, and teaching at every level. The Main Library is located at AUC New Cairo and houses the Rare Books and Special Collections Library, an archive of historical materials from Egypt and the Middle East. A second library location at AUC Tahrir Square gives you all of the resources of AUC's libraries, without leaving downtown Cairo.
