Welcome to the American University in Cairo newsroom, which is maintained by the Office of Communications and Marketing. The university’s media relations unit serves as a liaison between journalists and the university, directing reporters to appropriate members of the university community and coordinating distribution of news releases  and other communications.

AUC to Move to State-of-the-Art New Campus

After almost 90 years, AUC is moving from downtown Cairo to the suburb of New Cairo. The university's new campus is located on 260 acres and will:

  • Accomodate 7,000 full-time students and 1,500 faculty and staff.
  • Feature state-of-the art educational classrooms and labs
  • Weave Egyptian urban and architectural traditions with modern design.
  • Comply with international energy management systems for optimal environmental
The construction project is regarded as one of the biggest in the country, with a total cost of $400 million.

Columbia Professor Lisa Anderson Named Provost of The American University In Cairo
