Fiscal Year 2021 Awards
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) represents the University in its dealings with external sponsors such as international organizations, governments, foundations, and corporations and is responsible for submitting all project proposals and administering awards. The office helps faculty members identify potential funding sources, develop proposals, negotiate the terms of grants and contracts, and ensures that AUC complies with the sponsors' terms. During FY20, AUC received $50,989,610 in external funding to support research, fellowships and scholarships, academic and institutional support activities, training, and public service projects. It is worth highlighting that this year OSP successfully managed to win a 36 million USD award from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) titled "USAID Scholars Activity". The award will contribute to Egypt's 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) by instilling the pillars of knowledge, innovation and scientific research, economic development, and environmental responsibility in the core infrastructure of the activity. The activity's focus on advancing Egypt's water, energy, and agricultural sectors directly addresses Egypt's 2030 vision of becoming an efficient resource management leader through diversified production resources and economic activities. This alignment will enable 700 USAID Scholars to contribute to a diversified, collaborative, innovation-dependent economic system that will achieve sustainable development in Egypt by creating change agents and future leaders who are employable, problem solvers, and entrepreneurs.
