About the Day Care
The University designated the Early Years Company (EYC) to operate and manage its on-campus day care Center.
The children's day care center "Early Years Company", located in AUC New Cairo, is governed by a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) and is independent of the University. It is English medium day care and preschool for children from one-year-old (and walking) through six years of age only.
Priority is given to the children of the AUC staff and faculty. It can accommodate up to 75% of AUC employees' children and is the primary child care service provider for eligible employees working in AUC New Cairo. All regular, full-time female employees with children under the age of six years are eligible to participate in the program.
All regular female employees who work on a full-time basis or casual contracts and who have children from the age of three months to the age of six are eligible to receive the benefit for the care of the children of University employees and this feature is provided for a maximum of two children per employee.

Day Care Calendar and Working Hours
The day care follows The American University in Cairo's calendar, so it is closed on the days the University is closed. The day care stays open most of the summer.
Working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday, except for children who attend late school until 4:45 pm (exclusively offered to AUC faculty and staff).
During the month of Ramadan, the day care closes at 3:00 pm.
Extra hours: from 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm is offered exclusively to AUC staff and faculty at an additional fee.
Registration and Fees
All new participants must pay a registration fee to reserve his or her place. After acceptance, the full month's fees must be paid to retain a child's space in the classroom — if a child is vacationing or removed for any reason for extended times, the monthly fees are still required. If this fee is unpaid, the child must re-register at the end of his absence and will move to the bottom of the waiting list.
Payment is on a monthly basis. Full fees are collected regardless of early pick-up or absences during the month. If a child enters the program for the first time before the 15th of the month, the full monthly payment is due; only if after the 15th, one half-month payment is required along with the registration fees.
There are no refunds.
The center cannot offer a sibling discount. Its fees are more than competitive and individual attention is given to every child.

New applications and interviews are offered on a daily basis, between 9:30 to 11:30 am. Appointments must be made and agreed in advance by email or telephone.
