Rasha Allam, assistant professor and associate chair at the Department Journalism and Mass Communication, is a graduate of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (BA-2002, MA-2005), School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at The American University in Cairo. She is a graduate of the Annenberg-Oxford Comparative Media Law and Policy program. Her doctorate, in business administration (DBA), is from Maastricht School of Management (2011) focusing on media management.
Allam’s research interests include Egyptian and Arab media management systems, Arab broadcast media laws and regulations, media monitoring, media and elections, freedom of speech and of the press in the Middle East.
For years, Allam has a weekly column at Al Masry Al Youm, one of the leading independent newspapers in Egypt where she introduced the twitter debate, Engaging with your Readers on Twitter.
Allam currently serves on the editorial board of Journalism Practice Academic Journal.
