Real learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom.  At AUC, we have a wide-range of services to support your success, and connect you with peers and professors. Our experts in the writing center, multi-media library collection, job-savvy advisors in the career center, and opportunities for study abroad are all available for you to take your education to the next level of learning

AUC offers students a wide variety of study-abroad opportunities for a semester or an academic year. International study is an enriching experience that is valuable for students’ personal growth and career prospects. You can take your education abroad through AUC at one of our 60 affiliate universities or choose an outside university.

Exchange Program: AUC student can choose a university from the list of AUC exchange universities and spend the duration of a semester under the terms and conditions of each exchange partner school.

Study Abroad (direct enrollment): AUC students can spend a single semester or full year studying at another university. Students can choose a university from the list of AUC partner schools or other universities approved by AUC.

We understand that finding the right job can be tough.  If you don't know where to begin, AUC Career Center will point you in the right direction, and keep you on track.  We offer students and alumni career planning services, resume help, interview preparation, and a connection to our network of employers and the professional community.  We also facilitate internships and recruitment efforts for employers.

AUC's main library boasts nearly 500,000 print volumes, 130 electronic journal subscriptions, 340 PCs and laptops, and the view of our garden isn't bad either.  Home to the largest English-language collection in Egypt, the AUC New Cairo library is the hub of study, research and investigation on campus.  The library is home to the Learning Commons, your go-to spot for research and technology help. Expert research librarians are always available to assist you in hunting down information, whether in a book, online, or in a document in another library across the world.

AUC’s Tahrir Square library gives you all of the resources of AUC's libraries, without leaving downtown Cairo.

Rare Books:

The Rare Books and Special Collections Library has a remarkable archive of documents from the arts, culture, and society of Egypt and the Middle East.  You can explore not just books and periodicals, but also manuscripts, photographs and slides, maps, architectural drawing, memorabilia and artifacts, and audio-visual media.  The library also houses the University archives.

Writing Assistance

At AUC’s Mohamed Taymour Writing Center, we help you improve your writing skills and communication abilities. We offer a range of services, including individual tutoring sessions to support students throughout each stage of the writing process as well as a number of workshops, offering guidance to both undergraduate and graduate students. Individual 30-minute tutoring sessions are available to assist you in writing essays, abstracts, theses and literature reviews, as well as brainstorming, outlining and researching.

Communication workshops are held each semester on a variety of topics, including:  

  • Thesis Writing
  • Writing Effective Literature Reviews and Abstracts
  • Effective Oral Presentation Skills
  • APA and MLA Citation Styles
  • Writing Effective Outlines and Papers
  • Using Technology for Research

Graduate students can now access services through the Online Writing Lab (OWL) to submit work online for review of structure, clarity and argument. With the recent launch of our two new initiatives, all AUC students can also visit the center for one-on-one Arabic language tutoring or stop by our Public Speaking Unit (PSU) for aid with oral presentations. 

 

Textbook, cookbook, picture book; whatever book you're looking for, you'll find it at the AUC Bookstore.  At our five bookstore locations, you can browse more than 20,000 titles covering both English language academic texts and general interest books, as well as Arabic literature in translation.  At the AUC New Cairo bookstore, you can also find AUC gear, sportswear, and gifts.  The AUC Bookstores are owned and operated by the AUC Press, the leading English-language publishing house in the Middle East.  Contact us at bookstore@aucegypt.edu
